Thunderstorms and Light Rain Create Isolated Flash Flood Potential in So Cal

FLASH FLOOD POTENTIAL INDEX FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA

Activity is decreasing late this afternoon in the wake of a weak

easterly wave and increasing southerly flow aloft. So the risk of

flash flooding is diminishing. Expect a quiet night, then another

increase in thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon over the mountains

with a drift into the deserts. Thunderstorms on Tuesday have the

potential to be more intense, with full afternoon heating and a

favorable moisture and wind profile. Isolated flash flooding will

be a threat again on Tuesday afternoon/evening.

For Wednesday…Thunderstorms could redevelop late in the day on

the mountains and linger into the early evening. The activity

should be more isolated and confined to the mountains and desert

slopes as moisture begins to decrease
