Gusty north winds across Santa Barbara County and near the I-5 Corridor tonight***

Strong high pressure over the Southwestern States will bring record heat and low humidity to much of the region through Saturday. Maximum temperatures will be in the upper 80s and 90s across the mountains and 100 to 112 in the valleys. Minimum humidity will be mainly between 12% and 25%. North winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph will surface across much of Santa Barbara County and the Grapevine tonight. High pressure will weaken bringing significant cooling Sunday and then gradual cooling Monday through the middle of next week. Minimum humidity will increase to 15% and 30% during this time. Thunderstorm activity will be very isolated this afternoon and confined to the Sierra as well as the mountains and deserts of Southern California east of the Cajon Pass. Mid level moisture will increase a little both Saturday and Sunday causing the amount of thunderstorm activity to go up. Afternoon thunderstorm activity will be possible across most mountain and desert locations on Sunday and there is a slight chance of thunderstorm activity over the lower elevations of Southern California. Thunderstorm activity will become very isolated once again Monday through the middle of next week. There will be westerly winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph across the wind prone desert areas each afternoon and evening through the middle of next week.
