Fire Potential Remains High in So Cal
DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
Another sunny and very hot day will send ERCs and ignition components to very high levels during the afternoon. Expect moderate to rapid rates of spread during peak heating hours where fuels and terrain are in alignment. The highest potential of large fires today will be in the Sierra Foothills where near record high temperatures and a fuel bed loaded with dead fuels and heavy grass will allow for rapid fire growth. The focus of large fire potential will likely shift to the urban interface and the passes into the desert Thursday into the weekend due to breezy conditions. The large fire threat will be elevated in such regions as the north sides of the Angeles and San Bernardino N.F due to breezy weather and hot temperatures.
The rest of the area will still remain hot with high fuel temperatures during the afternoon hours through Friday, then cooler and more stable conditions should bring a lower large fire threat by early next week. IA will be moderate to heavy through Friday, then light by next Monday.
