Santa Ana Winds Blow Hot and Dry in So Cal
DAILY FUELS/FIRE POTENTIAL:
Strong offshore winds along with record heat and single digit humidity will cause the potential for large fire to be high across Southern California from the mountains westward through Tuesday. Rapid rates of spread and long range spotting will be likely on any new ignitions in windy areas and since fuels are extremely dry they will be very receptive to new ignitions. Most areas across Central California will only get light winds with this offshore wind event, so the threat for large fire will be much less likely there compared to Southern California. Even though temperatures will be well above average and humidity will remain very low Wednesday through this weekend, the large fire threat will decrease substantially due to light winds. Expect moderate to heavy initial attack activity through Tuesday and then light IA activity Wednesdaythrough this weekend.
