Warm and Dry as Fires Continue to Burn Over So Cal
Warm and very dry today***
Temperatures will be around 5 degrees above normal today as high pressure over the Great Basin strengthens. Maximum temperatures will be in the 80s to low 90s across the mountains and 90s to 102 in the valleys. Minimum humidity will remain mainly in the single digits and teens away from the coastal areas today. Temperatures will cool and humidity will increase Sunday through early next week as high pressure weakens and a weak area of low pressure spins off the California Coast. Southeast to south flow aloft will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to the mountains and deserts Sunday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. Some of the shower and thunderstorm activity may affect coastal and valley locations Sunday night through Monday night. High pressure over the Southwestern States will strengthen and build north bringing a warming and drying trend to the region Wednesday through the end of next week. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the Sierra and over the mountains and deserts of Southern California east of I-15 Wednesday through the end of next week.
