Very Pleasant Weather in So Cal Today
Large fire potential will moderate somewhat due to cooler temperatures over the weekend. However, locally breezy conditions in the desert interface regions will allow any new start to grow rapidly and move quickly through dead fuels and cured grasses. During the past 10 days, fires have been showing rapid growth in continuous dead fuels and cured grasses, but less aggressive behavior in live fuels. This may be due to live fuel moisture readings remaining well above critical thresholds at the current time. But a heavy crop of cured grasses will continue to be a good receptor to ignition during peak heating hours. Next week, the possibility of thunderstorms returning to the area may result in more ignitions beginning next Wednesday. The number of wet versus dry storms remains unclear at this time, but there is a good possibility of heavier IA and resource demand during the second half of next week.
